Linc surgery part 4

Day 3: last day at the hospital, yay!!! A little walk, some real clothes, tubes out- ready to leave!

Linc surgery part 3

Day 2: visitors! Nana and bubba brought Mia to visit around 12 and the first thing she said was "where's brother? Oh hey Linc! There's his owie, it's really big!" And was on to eating treats, opening up gifts and jumping on the furniture :)
Mia's cute princess build a bear :)
New book and frog from friends! Linc got fussy and Mia jumped right off the couch and walked toward him "oh Linc, it's okay buddy, shhh shhh shhh"
We left the room and got special time with Mia

We took a nice long wagon ride with Linc around the beautiful hospital and it was great to get out.

Linc surgery part 2

We just stood over his crib watching him go in and out of sleep and noticing the incisions, purple markings, lots of tubes, and mostly how good he looked :)

Around 6 or so he finally cried a little like he wanted to eat and after help getting him mostly unplugged and trying to get situated to feed so he'd be elevated, he ate well and was awake then back to sleep.
Day 2: good morning! Woke up happy and more alert but also more swollen!
We discovered new and good uses for the boppy pillow as it helped keep him elevated to eat, sleep, get changed...much better than the hospital crib!
We finally put some warm washcloths on his head and gently rubbed to get some of the blood cleaned up. He loved it and fell asleep. Build a bear stopped by and he got an awesome Thor bear.

Linc's surgery part one

Thursday, May 8, 5:30am
Colorado Children's Hospital
Checking in for one neurosurgery for craniosynostosis!

5:30-7:30-lots of waiting...Dr. Hankinson initialed his head, a little poking and proding, we got him in his gown, met the crew, answered lots of questions, washed his head, signed some papers and kissed him goodbye after he had fallen asleep from crying in Mikey's arms. (He wasn't allowed to feed from 3:30-on so he woke up hungry and upset)

7:30-  nurse took him away and we headed to Panera Bread across the street and ate breakfast.

First call was at 9:15 saying they had finished the prep (gas to go down, poked around to put in two IVs one in the arm and one in the foot, put stuff on his eyes and taped shut, positioned on table, etc.) and were starting the surgery.

10:30-Using endoscope now. Things going well.  No complications or unexpected issues.

11:30-They're closing him up and it went well, the dr. will meet with us in 15!

1:30- Just got to see him in recovery and he's tired and on pain meds but doing well! Face is a little swollen, still has 2 IVs in and did have a half unit of blood transfusion during surgery. About to go to our room now, so happy to see him!

Once our room was ready we left the recovery area, wheeled him to our room and moved our stuff in for three days, anxiously watching and waiting to hold him and feed him.
